I've asked a few people for VN recommendations already but you're free to offer some too if you like. I want some that feature greater or equal gameplay content as EnA, are not completely 18+. I mean I don't mind if they are 18+, but I don't really want one that features nothing but rape or sex for over half the game, and it would need an english patch of some kind.
Castle Fantasia 2 is a good one. Oh, and there's Sengoku Rance.

No way do I think Esperia's motherly to Yuuto because she cooks. So does Orpha, say. Aselia and Uruka probably want to as well. I'm thinking that I agree that she treats him with devotion shown to everyone else; I think of this as motherly, seeing how she is the older generation and takes care of everyone else.

Eien no Aselia is pretty much all gameplay. Pretty much leaves Sengoku Rance as AQZT suggests (which does however have a lot of sex) and Tears to Tiara (played on Impossible, is enjoyably challenging, not tedious, and it takes you enough time to advance that the sex is sufficiently infrequent.)

That said, Eien no Aselia is sufficiently low on story that you could possibly see mainstream SRPGs as comparable gameplay-wise. An example would be Front Mission 3. Or you could try to untangle the complexity that underlies the politics and characters of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together or Final Fantasy Tactics.

Lies, you're like "women belong in the kitchen, with leashes on", admit it!
Seriously though, I've played alot of games, and don't really need suggestions for any outside the VN genre. But many people have said that there aren't many (or any) with more/equal gameplay as EnA, so I guess that's a given..

Tactics ogre and FFT are TRPGS though, I thought SRPGS were more like civilization meets RPG than FFT >=P. Granted town development and such in EnA is very basic, I still feel that there is more world-map strategy than battle tactics (though in truth the pre-battle deployment is really all the "challenge" of the game).

I did enjoy the story for FFT more than the rest of the series, which in general, has a completely inferior story to EnA IMO. What EnA has over any videogame I've played in terms of story are character lovability and development. Most RPGs that have what people consider a good story (xenogears for example) tend to lack alot of character development, but it's more than that, they just MISS something that EnA has, I'm not really sure what exactly.

As for Tactics Ogre: Let us cling together, I didn't enjoy that game much, I found the original ogre battle to be much better. At least I think I played let us cling together (I think it was a remake that is, GBA's knight of lodis, final boss was some fallen angel that you needed some black spear named logincolis to beat) I just hate the ridiculous amounts of guide-reading needed to get joinable characters in Ogre battle (admit it, nobody could get them all without reading a guide, I mean some are automatically forfeit ifyou liberate one town before another despite being closer and be given no clues not to).

Most of the VN genre is basically text and choices( a lot more than in EnA usually) that has a great impact in how the story will end and how everything will happen. But not, there isn't many of the with much gameplay. But I usually play this kind of VN, and I can say that I don't miss the gameplay while reading.
If you want VN with gameplay my reccomendations end with Tears to Tiara and Utawarerumono, and they don't use a route-type of storyline like EnA.

If the others are fine too I can reccomend you a lot of them depending of your tastes Ghaleon.

In topic, What is your progress with the routes now?

And Volandum, because Esperia is more mature than Yuuto that doesn't make her love motherly

Ghaleon, I don't admit it.

You make the strategy/tactics distinction? Fair enough. Knight of Lodis is a much much shorter Tactics Ogre game, with less storyline branching and none of the flavour text that makes TO:LUCT a complicated story about personalities, politics gone awry and racial differences. It's actually a different story with different characters - TO:KoL is set twenty-something years before TO:LUCT and shows the formation of the antihero who is TO:LUCT's antagonist. If you don't like studying guides, though, trying to play is likely to lead to dead childhood friends, yourself assassinated and your land dominated by the Empire on successful completion of the game.

I wouldn't say Esperia is more mature than Yuuto. When it comes to running the spirits' house, sure. I don't think Yuuto lacks maturity as a person or as a being who has friendships and relationships (once he gets into Esperia's route, that is. In Aselia's route he lacks various things.), though - if anything, Esperia does.

I was teasing about the kitchen comment in case you didn't know >=P

My own progress is nothing, I've been out all day long for this weekend, and am putting more effort into translating TPW Evo again (I can't translate, I'm just doing the patching/scripting stuff).

Esperia does seem to lose some of her own maturity near the end of her own route, it's rather strange. It's not a big deal though because it's not very pronounced. My discussion with Gaea example is a good example IMO, her demands of Yuuto saying he loves her is also a bit immature. But we all know that women in general tend to do that mature or not, so maybe not. I think how Esperia is kind and helpful towards humans despite being shat on by them is a pretty good indicator that she's great. Particularly how she doesn't blame them for feeling the way they do. I don't however really understand how she can truly believe that she's a tool when Lesteena herself privately treats her as an equal friend.

Yuuto's maturity is all over the scales, sometimes he's very mature, other times he's your typical highschool brat. The way he acts towards Orpha is where he really shines best. Most parents aren't "man" enough to teach their children important values if it's uncomfortable, and brush it off until the child is older. But the way Yuuto does this at every opportunity makes you really like him during her route. Orpha herself is easy to love in those moments because she is genuinely hurt at her own mistakes, and instead of wallowing in her own misery, she takes it to heart and learns for the better. At the end when Yuuto's upset that his own power is less than hers though...Err, I just wanted to reach thru the monitor and slap him.

Anyway I consider TRPGs and SRPGS different for a good reason... I like turn-based strategy games...alot. I can really enjoy a RTS game too if it's done in the same fashion that a TBS is done. However most are really don't require strategy so much as experience, multi-tasking ability and clicking speed. a TRPG is also turnbased, and also requires strategy more than clicking speed or whatever. But it's just NOT the same kind of strategy as what you find in TBS, which I love. So I typically don't like a TRPG as much. They generally lack deep strategy on the battlefield anyway, and most of the challenge is properly managing what classes your units are, your equipment, skills/spells you learn, etc. If you manage that fairly well, you can pretty much face-roll thru each stage.

The strategy in EnA is hardly deep, but playing a game with RPG elements with TBS strategy elements definately felt fresh and new.

welp, I finished Lesteena's route now. I rather liked the route, but the ending was quite the ripoff. I mean I was expecting Yuuto to part ways with Lesteena after, and end tragicly somewhat. But I was surprised when he bailed on the gate out, to end up stuck there for thousands of years. After the story took this turn, I expected some sort of happy ending afterwards, but got little more than "they're yeofals" (or whatever it is). I mean, I know it's suggesting they live happily after that but seriously, why so little dialogue, the other endings aren't so damn cheap. grrr.

Anyway I want to do tokimi next, it'll take awhile no doubt, it'll be my first super-hard game now >=). Looking forward to who I will get as my 3rd eternal/replacement for eternal. IO was hax btw, total boss lockdown in the back, pair her up with selia's 2 action sucking ether sink, and you can pretty much stunlock a boss to death. And her hallucination nuke up front really clobbers em.

I only have 50% of tokimi's CG scenes unlocked. Normally this is normal for a character whose route I have not completed yet, but since tokimi really only shows up in her own route in the final chapter, I find the amount of missing CG for her to be rather suspicious, am I missing something?

Nah, you aren't missing something, if you play her route you should get all the CG, I didn't do nothing special and I have the 100% of them.

And you already have seen the replacement, I am sure of this, even if you don't know it, it's more, you already have read the name of an atack. But i am not saying where or when.

And even if I don't think that the Lesteena ending was bad, I have to agree when you say that it was a little cheap, it could have more text. But even then I liked it.

In Super Hard you'll unlock Halion Greenspirit's super abilities. Couple with Kyouko's lethal physical attacks and you should dispose of Shun in a round.

I wonder why they even call it "super hard". I found that mode easier than all of the others. Shun was really the only difficult part of the game for me on Normal/Hard, and without him being difficult, it was kind of...
Oh, I almost forgot to mention, but for the VN question, you may want to try out that English localized Sakura Taisen game.
