I was just wondering what the difference between the mission briefings and the scripts were wouldn't the missions be included in the script>(sorry if this is too dumb a question)

Briefings include all tutorials, gameplay tips, mission briefings, combat interludes etc - basically all scenes that run while the 'map' is active. There are a.... considerable number of them (over 100 briefings translated atm), and some are quite long. They're packed in a separate file and run differently, hence they're calculated separately (as is combat dialogue).
