The Gallery pictures

Hi, so uh... I wasn't really sure if this is a bug or just me messing something up but just before the 5th chapter starts my entire picture gallery had a reset, so I just simply lost all that. Are they supposed to do this if you start a new game because I did accidently click on the start new game instead of continue at one point? You would think that because it is a gallery the pictures would stay there no matter what... thanks in advance.
