If the text was garbled during the installer, you probably didn't use AppLocale or Japanese local settings ; that's also probably why it struggled to make a working install. I too have a problem installing the game on my new PC (Windows 7 64 bit). No problems installing and playing it on my old comp, but it wont start op on Windows 7.
